Hair consists of three main sections, it starts with the hair bulb at the bottom hidden under the skin supplied with blood and nutrients and then it goes into the hair root and finally as it leaves the skin it becomes the hair shaft which is the part that we see.

The hair is created in the bottom of the hair bulb in the growth zone where the hair gets its pigment that produces the colour of the hair and the three sections of the hair are formed. Inside each hair there is a middle section called the medulla, surrounded by a cortex which leads to the outer section called the cuticle.

Hairs are formed by cells dividing in the growth area and then the cells move upwards and they are filled with keratin protein, the cells lose their nucleus and die.
Hair in the scalp grows about half an inch per month and can live between 2 to 6 years and then it dies and is replaced by new hair.

There are two types of pigment that make up the colours in the hair and it is created by two types of melanin that make up all the colours of hair. Melanin production lessens as people age sometimes which produces grey hair and if melanin completely stops then it produces white hair.

There is a substance called sebum that is oily and conditions your hair naturally and this prevents your hair become dry or damaged.

All of this structure needs nutrients to keep it functioning and we have formulated some superfoods to support your hair growth in the vital beginning stages in the hair bulb under the skin.
